Catherine Butterfield

Catherine Butterfield’s full length plays include Top of the World, Electra Revisited, Joined at the Head, The Sleeper, To the Bone, Gellhorn, Life Expectancy, It Has to Be You, Brownstone, Where the Truth Lies, Snowing at Delphi and Life in the Trees. Top of the World will launch the 2021-22 season at the St. Louis Repertory. Her recent short film Just Another Birthday in Bedlam, directed by Barry Heins and featuring the estimable Interact players, has won a variety of indie film festival awards including Top Shorts, Indie Short Fest, Los Angeles Film Awards, and the Festigious International Film Festival where it won for Best Original Story. During the pandemic she and Ron West created a web series entitled Life During Lockdown, which consists of (so far) 56 short sketches about their life and the lives of their friends during the Covid-19 crisis. She has also created a new series, Butterpotts Players Present, which employs marionettes (since actors are currently unavailable.) You can find them on Youtube under her name. As an actress, she starred in the production of Joined at the Head at the Manhattan Theatre Club, which was nominated for a Drama Desk award. She has performed regionally at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Repertory, Irish Repertory, Pittsburgh Public, Long Wharf Theatre, Pasadena Playhouse and others. Ms. Butterfield was a writer/producer on the TV shows Grimm, Ghost Whisperer, Fame LA and Party of Five. Her plays are published by Dramatists Play Service, Concord Theatricals and Playscripts, Inc. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
