Deborah Pearl
Deborah began as a singer/actress, recording the album, Pearl on London Records with sister Leslie who penned the long-running Folgers jingle; recording with Linda Ronstadt and Neil Young, among others. A cum laude graduate of Barnard College, she spent ten years as a writer/producer of sitcoms, most notably Designing Women, then wrote features: Exit Wounds, an adaptation of an Israeli graphic novel; Monkey’s Paw, a rewrite of the famous project for RKO; an uncredited draft of Hotel For Dogs. A writer/producer of award winning shorts, she added director with, Getting Ed Laid, starring Ed Asner and Jean Smart, on Amazon Prime; Waiting for Yvette, starring Wendie Malick, a winner in Logo Networks ClickFest and Palm Springs ShortsFest audience award. A two time semi-finalist in Eugene O’Neill National Playwright’s Competition, she wrote and performed her critically-acclaimed one-woman show, Chick Singers, sang with legendary studio/jazz pianist Mike Lang at PianoSpheres’ debut jazz concert, and co-founded/directs The National In Choir, a volunteer group who for the past 30 years, carol for the needy each December.
