Amy Pietz

Amy Pietz has appeared in over 300 episodes of television, recently starring opposite Jason Alexander on HIT THE ROAD. Other series regular roles include: THE NINE LIVES OF CHLOE KING, NO TOMORROW, CAROLINE IN THE CITY (for which she received a SAG Award Nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy), the critically acclaimed ALIENS IN AMERICA, THE AMAZING MRS. NOVAK (playing the title role), RODNEY, THE WEBER SHOW, and MUSCLE.

She has had recurring roles on: AMERICAN CRIME STORY: IMPEACHMENT OF WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, WOLF PACK, THE MAGICIANS, THE OFFICE, TRUST ME, and ALLY MCBEAL. She has been a guest star on: DYNASTY, MARON, HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, BACKSTROM, DEVIOUS MAIDS, DEXTER, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, NECESSARY ROUGHNESS, THE CLOSER, NIP/TUCK, MEDIUM, BONES, BURN NOTICE, LAW AND ORDER SVU, ER, CSI, STAR TREK, THE NEXT GENERATION, and others.

Some of her favorite theatre credits include: Stupid Fucking Bird at the Theatre @ Boston Court (Ovation Award, LA Drama Critics Circle Award), The Boswell Sisters at The Old Globe Theatre, Enter Laughing at the Wallis Annenberg Theatre, Christmas In Naples at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Lobby Hero at the Odyssey Theatre (Ovation nominated), Fiorello and Company (Ovation Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical). Amy has also appeared in 20 radio plays with LA Theatre Works for NPR, including a tour of China playing Katherine Graham, the head of the Washington Post in Top Secret, The Search For The Pentagon Papers on which the Golden Globe nominated movie, “The Post” was based.

Amy studied Spolin improvisation extensively at De Paul University’s Theatre School in Chicago and with Paul Sills in Door County. She discusses it as an integral part of her acting technique in Larry Moss’s acting book called The Intent To Live, and hopes to spend the rest of her life and career forwarding the legacy of Viola Spolin’s important contribution to the art of acting in America. She started the Spolin/Sills scholarship at DePaul University in the 90’s that has helped numerous students with tuition.

She lives in Studio City with her Australian Shepherd, Valentino, and her Mongolian yurt.
